Road to Emmaus

Open the Scriptures. Encounter Christ. Become a Disciple.

October 31 – May 8, 2027; Saturdays | 10:00am –1:00pm

Holy Name Cathedral | Club Room

“Were not our hearts burning within us…

while he opened the Scriptures to us?” — Luke 24:32

Holy Name Cathedral is excited to offer a new opportunity for deeper biblical formation through a special collaboration with Loyola University Chicago’s Institute of Pastoral Studies (IPS).

Join us for Road to Emmaus, a 16-session journey through the great story of salvation, presented by Ricky Moreno of Loyola IPS.

Have you ever wanted to understand how the whole Bible fits together? How do Creation, Covenant, Exodus, the Prophets, Christ, the Cross, Resurrection, and Holy Spirit form one extraordinary story—and where do you fit within it?

Road to Emmaus is more than a Bible study. It brings together the academic and pastoral formation of Loyola IPS with the faith and community life of Holy Name Cathedral, helping participants not simply study Scripture, but encounter Christ through Scripture and become disciples formed by the Word of God.

Who should participate?

You should consider Road to Emmaus if you:

• Want to understand the Bible more deeply and see how the whole story fits together
  • Desire a stronger foundation in Scripture for your personal faith
  • Serve—or hope to serve—as a catechist, OCIA sponsor or team member, small-group leader, Bible study leader, liturgical minister, young adult leader, or parish ministry leader
  • Want to become more confident sharing and discussing Scripture with others
  • Feel called to grow as a disciple and help others encounter Christ
  • Are simply curious about Scripture and ready to go deeper

No previous theological or biblical studies are required. Whether you are opening the Bible seriously for the first time or have studied Scripture for years, there is a place for you on this road.
