Summer Cathedral Concert

SATURDAY, JUNE 14; 7:00pm in the Cathedral

Ensemble Continuo to perform in the Cathedral on SATURDAY, JUNE 14 at 7:00pm Ensemble Continuo, a Palo Alto-based chamber choir, will perform choral masterworks including Leonard Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms” and Francis Poulenc’s “Gloria” at Holy Name Cathedral on June 14 at 7:00pm.

The choir will also perform Poulenc’s sober “Vinea Mea Electa,” depicting the pain and suffering of Good Friday, Caroline Shaw’s and the swallow, a meditative setting of “Psalm 84,” and Ēriks Ešenvalds’s mesmerizing a cappella work “Stars.” The choir is led by conductor Christopher Pluntke and will be joined by David Jonies (organ), Conroy Jinq (percussion), Taide Ding (piano), Elbert Gong (piano), and Emily Schuck (soprano).

Ensemble Continuo is a classical chamber choir based in Palo Alto, California. Founded in 2023, the choir has performed at venues including the Summer Sacred Music Series at Stanford Memorial Church, Oakland Cathedral, the International Performing Arts of America Festival at California Theater in San Jose, and the Sunset Arts and Music series in San Francisco. Christopher Pluntke is music director and organist at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Palo Alto. He holds a degree in music education from the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, Germany, and has 25 years of experience leading vocal ensembles, period instrument groups, and performing as organist, pianist and continuo player.
