2026 Holy Week Schedule

What is Holy Week?

Holy Week is the final, most sacred week of Lent, spanning from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, culminating in the Easter Triduum. It commemorates the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ through specialized liturgies including Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil.

Key Components of Holy Week

Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion: Commemorates Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem.

Chrism Mass: Typically held during Holy Week, where the Bishop blesses holy oils.

The Easter Triduum: The “three days” representing the summit of the liturgical year.

Holy Thursday: Mass of the Lord’s Supper, instituting the Eucharist and Priesthood.

Good Friday: Celebration of the Passion of the Lord, a day of fasting and veneration of the Cross.

Holy Saturday/Easter Vigil: A day of quiet reflection leading to the Easter Vigil in the Holy Night, celebrating the Resurrection.

Easter Sunday: The Resurrection of the Lord.

Holy Week is a time of profound reflection, prayer, and “spiritual spring cleaning,” calling Catholics to walk with Christ from his agony to his joyful resurrection.
