Camino del Santo Nombre
Finding sacredness in the ordinary allows us to encounter God in our daily journeys. Camino derived from the Spanish verb Caminar (to walk) is a 500-mile pilgrimage in Spain often associated with The Way of Jesus. One of our recently converted Catholics, Bob Larson, traveled the 500 miles journey allowing him to encounter God in the wilderness, fellow sojourners, and Spaniards. This pilgrimage led Bob to Holy Name Cathedral, where he entered the full communion of the Catholic Church.
Inspired by Bob’s experience, we now provide Caminos, or small pilgrimages, throughout Chicago. We gather a small group to explore the ordinary places and things and share a religious interpretation. Our Caminos are led by lay parishioners who gladly lead them. We provide resources so that you can reflect on these small pilgrimages and share with your family and friends.
