If you are over the age of 18, baptized Catholic, regularly attending Mass and receiving Communion, and think God is calling you to deepen your faith and make an adult commitment to it, you may be feeling the call to the Sacrament of Confirmation.
(If you are under age 18, our parish regulation is that we must have a letter of permission from the pastor of your parish in order for you to receive Confirmation at Holy Name Cathedral).
Holy Name Cathedral Parish will offer adults the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 7:00pm.
The purpose of these classes is to give you an opportunity to update your faith and to give you a good look at how the Church understands Confirmation today. Preparation sessions cover topics such as Scripture, Jesus Christ, Sacraments, and more.
A Reconciliation Service is included for those who have never participated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation or have not experienced the healing power of the sacrament recently.
Preparation session dates:
Preparation sessions will take place on seven Tuesday evenings from 6:30PM unitl 8:00PM in Holy Name’s Parish Center:
March 10, 17, 24 and 31 April 7, 14 and 21
The Rehearsal on Tuesday, April 28, to be held in the Cathedral, is both a rehearsal for Confirmation and a Reconciliation service, with an opportunity for individual Confession.
Your sponsor must be a confirmed Catholic over the age of 16, may be either man or a woman, and be someone willing to walk the journey of faith with you. Sponsors are expected to attend the rehearsal and Reconciliation Service, and, of course, Confirmation on May 7. They are certainly welcome to attend other preparation sessions.
We will need a copy of your baptismal and 1st Communion certificates with registration form.
For more information please contact Dr. Kenneth Ortega at 312-573-4434 or firstname.lastname@example.org
For non-parishioners, there is a $75.00 fee.
One more note: This Confirmation is for people who live in the Archdiocese of Chicago – Cook County or Lake County.
