Worship

Worship is central to our faith. The door of faith, the doors of our parish of Holy Name Cathedral, are always open for us, ushering us into the life of communion with God and offering entry into his Church. Our doors, therefore, are hinged on our celebration of the Eucharist, which invites all who enter through our doors into an encounter with Christ.

Vatican II encouraged us, “to full, conscious and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy.” Therefore, when we gather for Liturgy, everyone gathers and celebrates. With over 300 liturgical ministers, we seek to “open wide the doors to Christ,” through the words, actions and prayers of the Liturgy. Whether a lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, usher, minister of hospitality, sacristan, or altar server, each minister is called to enhance our liturgy by living out the faith we celebrate. Take a look at our many liturgical ministries, and consider joining us. Everyone is not called to the same ministry, but everyone has a place at the table and is called to service in the Church.
