Ministry of Care

Ministry of Care

Ministers of Care visit Catholics who are in a healthcare facility or who are home bound. They offer compassion, a listening presence, prayer and the Eucharist. This ministry allows people to experience the nearness of God and the Christian community through the presence of the Minister of Care and through the reception of Holy Communion.

Ministers of Care visit people in their homes or at one of the following healthcare facilities:

  • Northwestern Memorial Hospital
  • Prentice Women’s Hospital
  • Lurie Children’s Hospital
  • Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago
  • Warren Barr Pavilion

Volunteering is done on a weekly basis or on alternating weeks for approximately two hours each time. Initial training and continuing education is provided.
