PPC Programs & Activities
The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is the lay strategic advisory group to our Rector. We meet with the Rector on the first Tuesday of every month to hear Rector’s business and financial updates, discuss parish engagement strategies and upcoming Parish activities, and review new directions coming from the Archdiocese.
In addition to active participation of our monthly meetings, each PPC member is expected to participate in the following activities:
- Be a PPC Liaison to one of the other parish leadership groups; this role is to provide two-way communication and support between groups and PPC. PPC Liaisons attend their assigned group’s monthly meetings as well as between meeting support and communication.
- Provide planning and implementation support for Parish-wide events that are sponsored by the PPC.
- Lead and/or be a member on a working committee sponsored by the PPC.
Each spring, the Cathedral Parish makes an open invitation for parishioners to consider becoming a lay leader by joining one of our leadership groups. The PPC is responsible for leading this activity and making the final recommendations to the Pastor.
We want to offer our parishioners many opportunities to grow as Disciples of Christ through a wide range of spiritual, service, and social volunteer opportunities. This new community offers monthly and ad hoc volunteer opportunities as well as two major volunteer drives during Lent and Advent.
We are blessed with ~ 50 new parishioners joining Holy Name Cathedral every month. One of the PPC’s key roles is to welcome our new parishioners and assist them in engaging in whatever way is most meaningful to them. One of our roles is to host a quarterly New Parishioner Welcome Reception on a Saturday evening following 5:15 PM Mass.
Holy Name Cathedral’s Rector, Fr. Greg, and the Parish Pastoral council are bringing Mass to apartment and condo buildings in the parish’s neighborhood. It is our way of bringing the faith to your homes. We’d love or you to invite a neighbor or a friend so we can introduce them to our wonderful parish.
Our next Mass will take place on November 30 at 7:00PM for residents of 222 E. Chestnut Street. We will have a Mass with a short social after and a chance to meet Fr. Greg and other members of the parish.
