PLC Programs & Activities

The main goal of the PLC is to increase and promote fellowship amongst parishioners by creating fun, diverse, lively social events and gatherings. Our events bring a lot of joy and fun to the parish community. Guests receive a faith-based gift at most PLC events.

French Toast Breakfast – January

IMG_9675Nothing beats a few slices of warm, buttery French Toast, but one has to wonder, did this delicious breakfast dish really come from France? French or not, the PLCs deliciously golden slices of French toast are nothing to scoff at – and you can enjoy yours, after mass, in the warmth of our Cafeteria. We hope you enjoy it a little more knowing the rich history that helped this dish come to being!

*All Breakfasts are served with Fresh Fruit, Bacon or Sausage, Coffee, Tea, and Water. Occasionally, we will serve Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice, Apple Juice or Milk.

Everyone knows that the place to be for Mardi Gras is in The Big Easy. But if you can’t head on down to New Orleans this February, that doesn’t mean that you can’t celebrate Mardi Gras NOLA-style right here in Chicago. Grab your beads and join your fellow parishioners in a night of upbeat music, and challenging faith-based trivia games. Awards & Prizes available for the winners.

*All Dinners include Authentic Seafood Jambalaya, Cornbread, Cajun Coleslaw, Pecan Squares, Hurricane Punch, Tea, and Water. This event includes lively music, and is also BYOB (limited to beer and wine).

Fish Dinner – March

DSC_0692Most of us still base the food we eat during celebrations around a meat entrée (Thanksgiving turkey, Easter ham, Fourth of July brat, burger and a steak). Meat-based dishes are traditionally associated with the food of celebrations and feasts. In fact an enterprising McDonald’s franchise owner in a largely Catholic part of Cincinnati, found himself struggling to sell burgers on Fridays. His solution? He invented the Filet-O-Fish. And while we won’t be indulging in fish sandwiches, we will be enjoying a delicious Lenten dinner. This event sells out every year, so be sure to buy your tickets early!

*All Fish Dinners are served with Bread/Butter, a Healthy Salad, Pierogi, Vegetable Medley, Dessert, Coffee, Tea, and Water. This event includes lively piano music, and is also BYOB (limited to beer and wine).

When you wake up in the morning, and the alarm goes off without warning, everyone needs a place where they can grab a great cup of coffee for serenity, to survive the day, or for the extra jolt to push them through. Each summer, PLC volunteers transform the courtyard into an inviting space tailor-made for mingling in the most enjoyable of ways. Come enjoy coffee, or tea and pastries in the courtyard after a Sunday mass. All ages are welcomed to attend.

Apple Cider – November

Nothing beats a mug of hot cider on a cool winter day. Just think, a mug of hot apple cider accompanied by an apple fritter, apple sauce, apple crisp, apple tarts, homemade apple pie, caramel apples, or for the healthy at heart, fresh red and green apples. Our event takes place in the Courtyard and provides a great opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow parishioners after the Sunday mass. All ages are welcomed to attend.

Pancake Breakfast – December

IMG_1951

Fortunately, when it comes to pancakes, there are still plenty of places where you can go get a basic flapjack topped with maple syrup. And sure, those things can be delicious. But in order to stand out, a little more is necessary. Each December, the PLC gets together to put on a spectacular breakfast, filled with great music, decorations, and fun. Parishioners of all ages join together to enjoy our Christmas playlist, eat great food, and make new friends.

*All Breakfasts are served with Fresh Fruit, Bacon or Sausage, Coffee, Tea, and Water. Occasionally, we will serve Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice, Apple Juice or Milk.
